Foundation Course (Batch-IV) for students of Balochistan and FATA
INTRODUCTION
HEC developed the scholarship program “Provision of Higher Education Opportunities for Students of Balochistan and FATA” who do not have educational opportunities at par with other areas of the country and belong to the less privileged areas of Balochistan and FATA. The project has provision of 4-weeks Foundation Course for the 400 students aspiring to take undergraduate studies at quality education Institutions of the country. The Foundation Course will be conducted at Quetta and Peshawar. The Foundation Course aims at enhancing the analytical, writing and comprehension skills and would help the students to compete in the test for the award of scholarship under the scheme to be advertised later.
Deadline: 16 May 2011
The interseted candidates are advised to go thorugh the eligibilty criteria of the Foundation course, required documents, FAQs and important information; before submitting their application for the foundation course.

Eligibility Criteria
· Age: Maximum 22 Years of age on 18th July 2011
· Domicile: Balochistan or FATA
· Academic Qualification:
a) F.A/F.Sc/I.Com/A- Level or equivalent with minimum 60 % marks.
b) Result awaiting candidates may apply & submit their 11th class certificate with 60% marks at least with hope certificate.

Required documents
Attach attested photocopies of following documents with application form.
1. SSC/O-level certificate & marks certificate. (Equivalence from IBCC in case of O-level candidate)
2. HSSC / A-level certificate & marks certificate. (Equivalence from IBCC in case of A-level candidate) (The candidate whose 12th class result is awaited may give the detail of 11th class result and attach hope certificate)
3. Applicant’s Computerized CNIC or B- Form
4. Applicant’s Domicile Certificate
5. Father’s Computerized CNIC
6. Father’s Domicile Certificate
7. Attested passport size recent photograph (Attested at the back)
8. An amount of Rs. 500/- as application processing fee (non refundable) may be deposited in the HEC Online A/C No. 17427900133401 in Habib Bank Limited, Shalimar Recording Company Branch, H-9, Islamabad. (Photocopy of the online processing fee or any other form of payment is not acceptable)

Important Information
a) The tentative date for NTS test is 5th June 2011. Roll No. slips will be available online only and applicants are advised to download their Roll No. slips from HEC and NTS website (www..hec.gov.pk/balochistan-fata/fc and www..nts.org.pk) after 25th May 2011.

· b) It is mandatory for you to have a valid email address otherwise your form can be considered INCOPMLETE. In case you don’t have email account, please create immediately on yahoo /gmail /hotmail (this facility is free of cost). Most of the future correspondence will be done through email. Do not change your E-mail address and frequently check your emails. Sometimes our emails are transferred to Junk/Bulk Mail folders, therefore check these folders as well.

· c) The candidates are strictly advised to keep visiting HEC web site www.hec.gov.pk/balochistan-fata/fc for updates and other information, any development/ progress will be available on our website.

· d) The candidates who have studied in the institutions located within the districts of Balochistan or Agency or FRs of FATA fall under the category BALOCHISTAN IN and FATA IN respectively. Those who have studied in the institutions outside Balochistan and FATA/FRs fall under BALOCHISTAN OUT and FATA OUT category respectively.

· e) The data of scholars (Name, CNIC, Domicile and category of FATA In / Out and Balochistan In/Out) will be printed on Roll Number Slips. In case of any discrepancy in the record, the candidates are advised to write an email at balfata@hec.gov.pk along with the proof of the changes desired.

· f) List of selected candidates will be placed on HEC website: www.hec.gov.pk/balochistan-fata/fc

FAQS (Frequently Asked Questions):
1. What is foundation course?
The Foundation Course will help the students to compete in the test for the award of scholarships under the program which will be advertised later. The main objective of the foundation courses is to enhance the communication skills and introduction of computer applications along with refreshing the knowledge in the subjects like Mathematics, English, Pakistan and Islamic Studies.
2. Can I apply for foundation course without waiting for result?
Yes, you can apply for foundation course without waiting for the results. But you have to provide the detail of 11th class result (with 60% Marks) and hope certificate. The selection of candidates for foundation course will be made through NTS Test.
3. What are Balochistan In / Out and FATA In/Out?
The candidates who have studied in the institutions located within the districts of Balochistan or Agency or FRs of FATA fall under the category BALOCHISTAN IN and FATA IN respectively. Those who have studied in the institutions out side Balochistan and FATA/FRs fall under BALOCHISTAN OUT and FATA OUT category respectively.
4. What’s distribution of scholarships/ foundation course for Balochistan In / Out and FATA In/Out?
Balochistan In & FATA In : 90 % scholarships
Balochistan Out & FATA Out: 10 % scholarships
90% scholarships will be awarded on population basis to those students, who have done FA/FSc/I.Com/A Level or equivalent from the districts / agencies / FRs of FATA and Balochistan and they will fall under category FATA In and Balochistan In. 10% scholarships will be awarded for Balochistan Out and Fata Out Category.
5. Will students be eligible for scholarship award test, if they have not attended /applied for foundation course?
Yes, students who have not attended the foundation course and even those who have not applied for foundation course will be eligible for scholarship award test, on fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
6. How can i get my Roll No. Slip for NTS Test?
The Roll No. slips will be available online only and applicants are advised to download their Roll No. slips from HEC and NTS website (www.hec.gov.pk/balochistan-fata/fc and www.nts.org.pk) after 25th May 2011. The tentative date for NTS test is 5th June 2011.
7. What will be the basis of selection for foundation course?
The candidates who meet the eligibilt criteria (Age, acdemic record) will be allowed to appear in the NTS test. The final selection of candidates for foundation course will be made through NTS Test on district/ Agency Basis.

  2. This foundation course is to prepare you for the "Scholarship Test"... The scholarships will be announced in June/July... It is good for your own knowledge if you attend this course but is NOT NECESSARY.... You can apply for the scholarship without studying this course....
